Skin Peels
Chemical peels are a treatment performed in the clinic aimed to treat fine lines, pigment (brown spots), photo-damage, melasma, active acne and acne scars. Here at avace clinic we may suggest the use of chemical peels to treat these conditions. The process involves applying a chemical agent to the skin for a specified amount of time in order to remove the epidermis (top layer of skin) and depending on the strength of the peeling agent, illicit variable damage to the dermis to stimulate collagen remodeling.
There are several chemicals that can be used as peeling agents; there is no “best chemical peel” for all patients. Popular peeling agents include Glycolic Acid, Phytic acid, Salicylic acid and TCA. The most appropriate peel for you will be decided on consultation.
Before the treatment, the skin is cleansed with a pre peel cleanser The chemical peeling agent is then applied to the skin and left on for 1 to 10 minutes. The chemical is then removed and a hydrating cream is applied. Redness is common immediately after the procedure, and then peeling will last from 2- 7 days.
A series of chemical peels are usually needed to get optimal results. Most patients require an average of around 4 to 6 treatments
